Allergy testing: A growing need
Allergies can cause a wide variety of symptoms,
sometimes making diagnosis difficult. Allergic reactions can range from mild to severe. In some severe cases, allergies can trigger a life-threatening reaction known as anaphylaxis.
Allergies are a widespread health concern, impacting millions of people. The prevalence of allergies are on the rise, affecting between 10% and 30% of the population worldwide.1
These can range from food allergies to environmental allergens like pollen, dust, and mold, as well as insect stings and animal dander. According to the Food Allergy Safety, Treatment, Education, and Research (FASTER) Act, nine common foods – cow’s milk, cod, wheat, sesame, peanut, soybean, hazelnut, shrimp, and egg white, known as the ‘Big 9’.2
The increasing incidence of allergies1 underscores the need for comprehensive and efficient diagnostic tools in clinical settings, blood tests assessing IgE are key tools in the evaluation of allergic disorders.3
